Medical, Prescription & Vision Insurance

The County offers two low-cost plans that include prescription and vision coverage.

United Healthcare Choice is an in-network-only plan with a zero deductible and $10 copays for physician, specialist, or urgent care visits.  Emergency room visits have a $50 copay that is waived if admitted.

United Healthcare Choice Plus is an in-network and out-of-network plan.  In-network has a zero deductible and $15 copays for physician, specialist, or urgent care visits.  Emergency room visits have a $50 copay that is waived if admitted.  Out-of-network services require you to pay a deductible of $200 individual/$400 family and then a 20% coinsurance with an out-of-pocket maximum of $1700 individual/$3400 family.

Neither plan requires referrals nor requires members to choose a primary care provider. 

Prescription copays for a 30-day supply at a retail pharmacy are:
$10.00 Tier 1 drugs                $20.00 Tier 2 drugs                $30.00 Tier 3 drugs
There is also a mail-order option where a 90-day supply can be received for one copay.

United Health Care Transparency in Coverage

Vision coverage is included for all employees and dependents enrolled in the medical/prescription plan. 

Coverage provided through VSP (Vision Service Plan) allows for a yearly well-vision exam for a $10 copay.  Annually, covered individuals may also receive eyeglasses with lenses for a $10 copay or choose a $130 credit toward contacts instead.

Dental Insurance

The County currently offers a Delta Dental PPO plan. Covered individuals receive two exams, cleanings, and x-rays per year at no cost when using a Delta Dental PPO or Premier provider.  For additional services, there is a $50 deductible per person ($150 for the family), then most services are covered at 80% with more involved procedures covered at 50%.  The yearly maximum benefit per calendar year is $1,500 per person. If a Delta PPO or Premier dentist is used, the diagnostic & preventive services (exams, cleanings, xrays) do not count against your $1500 maximum benefit.
