In 1965, public safety officials in Carroll County, MD looked to develop a way to call one number for police or fire department and enhance communications in a county with multiple fire companies. The central alarm system was created and used until 1984 when all emergency communications in Carroll County converted to the national 911 emergency network.  The men and women that worked to provide this system can best tell the story of how Carroll County, MD established this life-saving service.
