Drop off used CFLs at most home improvement stores for recycling, receptacles are usually located at the front of the store. Contact the store beforehand to ensure availability and confirm any drop-off requirements. Do not put CFLs or lightbulbs of any kind in a residential recycling bin. Click here for EPA’s Guide on Safe Clean-Up of CFLs.

Some retailers also accept LED lightbulbs at their store drop-off; verify with the retailer first.

Non-mercury containing fluorescent bulbs & tubes may be disposed of at the Northern Landfill (standard tipping fee applies); wrap in paper and place in a plastic bag to dispose.
