2024 Volunteer of the Year Award

Lisah Tontala

A computer professional, frequent traveler, and lifelong supporter of the arts who began volunteering with the Carroll County Arts Council (CCAC) during the Winter Holiday Season of 2022, Lisah Tontala has enthusiastically leaped into the CCAC fray! From volunteering at Black American Film Festival screenings to PEEPshow to Music Concerts to Rentals to being the Star of our Volunteer Training Video Series, Lisah has quickly become one of the regular faces at the CCAC. Her warm and friendly manner makes visitors, along with fellow volunteers alike, feel welcome and valued. Like past recipients of this Award, she is someone that Staff knows we can trust to go over and beyond her volunteer responsibilities.

In June of 2023, she joined the CCAC’s Volunteer Committee, which helps advise CCAC staff on how to better recruit, train, retain, recognize, and celebrate volunteers. In September of 2023, she joined our Board of Directors and has gone further into the world of committees and policies to help make the CCAC the best place it can be for everyone involved. She is currently serving as Member At Large.

Lisah’s dedication can be seen in not only the substance of what she does and the clear compassion and thoroughness in how she does what she does but also in the sheer quantity. Lisah volunteered for over 172 hours last event season and on 52 different occasions. She has the second most hours overall, behind only last year’s likewise incredible VOY, JoAnn Barr. However, it should be noted that these numbers do not reflect time spent in committee meetings, attending events, or talking up the CCAC to friends. Lisah is a true ambassador to the Carroll County Arts Council, and we feel so fortunate to have her as a part of our beloved Volunteer Community.
