Westminster, MD, Thursday, December 16, 2021 – The Carroll Technology & Innovation Council (CTIC) recently presented the Carroll County Department of Economic Development with its 2020 Community Partner of the Year award.  CTIC held its “Tech the Halls” holiday event on December 9th at SKAYL in Westminster recognizing outstanding members for 2020 and 2021. The Department of Economic Development’s award acknowledged “the tireless and exceptional work done during the pandemic to provide information and grants to Carroll’s small businesses, nonprofits, hotels/motels, and restaurants.” Throughout the pandemic, the department awarded more than 2,000 local businesses with over $8.2 million dollars sourced from local, state, and federal funding.

CTIC Executive Director Kati Townsley shared, “Carroll County Department of Economic Development (CCED) has always been a wonderful community partner to the Carroll Technology & Innovation Council and to the Carroll County business community. When COVID hit, CCED worked tirelessly to help Carroll County businesses and nonprofits keep their doors open by providing grants, resources, and support. It is for that reason that CCED was selected as the CTIC 2020 Community Partner of the Year!"

Director of Economic Development Jack Lyburn said, “I am so proud of our dedicated team effort to keep businesses informed and to provide grants to our companies in their time of greatest need.” Deputy Director Denise Beaver attended the event to accept the award on behalf of the department.
