Westminster, MD, Monday, December 27, 2021 – Carroll County is offering a way to recycle resident’s Christmas trees. Consider giving your tree a second life as compost, mulch, or chips to be used later in a garden or in a landscape project. Trees ground into mulch provide good ground cover that reduces soil erosion, deters weed growth and conserves water in landscaping.

Before delivering the tree, remove all non-organic objects, such as lights, wire, tinsel, and ornaments.  Drop off Christmas trees to be recycled and re-used at one of the following Carroll County locations:

Carroll County Resource Recovery Park (Northern Landfill and Recycling Center), 1400 Baltimore Boulevard, Westminster, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Holiday hours:  Facility will close at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 31st and the facility is closed on Saturday, January 1st.)

WeCare Denali, 7901 Kabik Court, Woodbine, on Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Proper ID is required.  (Holiday hours:  Facility is closed on Saturday, January 1st.)

Call 410-386-4550 for the Landfill or 410-795-7666 for WeCare Denali during inclement weather or for operating hours.

Residents living within a municipality are encouraged to contact town and city offices for the Christmas tree pick-up schedule.  Residents living outside incorporated areas should contact waste haulers to determine if Christmas tree pick-up is provided.

Please remember that this opportunity is for live trees only and not artificial of any kind.
