Westminster, MD, Tuesday, November 15, 2022 – Each November 15th we celebrate America Recycles Day, a time to educate and empower Americans to recycle more, better, not just one day, but every day.  Make a pledge to reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle.

Recycling conserves natural resources, such as wood, water, minerals, and fossil fuels, because materials can be reused. Recycling metal, plastic and glass decreases resource depletion, and reduces the ecosystem destruction of mining, drilling and deforestation.

Detailed information about recycling in Carroll County may be found on the county website https://www.carrollcountymd.gov/government/directory/public-works/office-of-recycling/recycling/ and a guide to Waste Management and Recycling is also available https://www.carrollcountymd.gov/government/directory/public-works/office-of-recycling/recycling/waste-management-and-recycling-guide/.

The most important thing to remember in the recycling program is quality.  “When in Doubt, Throw it Out”!  Anything in the bin that is not part of the county’s program is considered contamination and jeopardizes the whole collection.  Check our acceptable items list and know before you throw.

Contact Recycling Manager Maria T. Myers, Recycling Manager at 410-386-2510 with recycling questions or for more information.

Thank you for recycling today and every day!
