Westminster, MD, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 – The Carroll County Board of Commissioners join others throughout Carroll County and Maryland in mourning former Maryland State Senator Larry Haines, who passed away on January 13, 2024.  Mr. Haines was elected to the Maryland Senate in 1991 and served until 2011, representing Carroll and Baltimore counties.  

Along with service as a Maryland State Senator, Mr. Haines was a former Carroll County dairy farmer and was the owner, broker, and appraiser of Haines Realty in Westminster.  Haines was dedicated to the county and people in the community and made many local contributions.  

“On behalf of the Carroll County Board of Commissioners, we mourn the passing of a great leader in our community and a friend to our county, former State Senator Larry Haines. We extend our sincere appreciation for his many years of service to Carroll County and send our heartfelt prayers to his family,” said Commissioner Board President Kenny Kiler.
