Westminster, MD, Tuesday, September 3, 2024 – The Carroll County Board of Commissioners (board) and Sheriff’s Office have recently learned that a new youth residential facility is being considered on the site of the former Silver Oak Academy, located at 999 Crouse Mill Rd, Keymar, MD 21757.   The facility will be operated by Rite of Passage, the same organization that previously managed Silver Oak Academy. According to their website, “Rite of Passage is a leading provider of evidence-based, trauma-responsive, and innovative services.’”

The board and the Sheriff’s office are receiving details on the project as they emerge. As more information about the program becomes available, updates will be shared with the public.
