Westminster, MD, Thursday, June 27, 2024 – The Carroll County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on Thursday, June 27, 2024, to hear comments on proposed amendments to Chapter 158-Zoning Regulations, of the Code of Public Laws and Ordinances of Carroll County. The proposed amendments included changes to storage rules for Food Processing Residuals, also known as Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) residuals.

“This is an important issue the board is taking very seriously,” says Commissioner Kiler, board president. “There are many aspects we need to take into consideration. We did not solve every problem today but took a solid step forward in addressing the concerns.”

After considering the public comments and deliberating, the board of county commissioners voted unanimously to ban the storage of DAF residuals on storage structures throughout the county.
