Westminster, MD, Monday, August 5, 2024 - Following a comprehensive and competitive process, Mr. Paul Supko has been named the Deputy Chief/ Director of Operations for Carroll County’s Department of Fire/Emergency Management Services (DFEMS). Mr. Supko is a resident of Westminster and has served with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department (AACFD) for 33 years. His most recent position was Captain/Executive Officer for their training and research division. Previously, he was the commander of AACFD’s Special Operations.

Mr. Supko is a nationally certified Fire Officer IV, Emergency Services Instructor. He holds numerous special operations credentials including Haz-Mat Tech, Rescue Diver, Rescue Technician, and is Incident Safety Officer. He is also a previous FEMA/Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Maryland Task Force member. Supko brings a total of 36 years of Fire/EMS to Carroll County. He also served as a volunteer member and career employee for over 10 years for the Westminster Fire Engine and Hose Co. 1. Michael Robinson, Chief of DFEMS says, “Paul has a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will prove to be an asset to the department.  We welcome him and look forward to working with him to enhance services throughout the county.”

As a Carroll County resident, Supko has been closely following the evolution of the DFEMS since its beginning and has had an active role in the community.  He officially began his role on August 1, 2024.  His responsibilities will include the management of all DFEMS operations. Mr. Supko says, “I am driven to achieve an effective leadership role in our career/volunteer Fire/EMS system, where I can contribute to the growth and success of the team while involving all members; career, volunteer, and civilian personnel!”
