The Information & Assistance unit provides a single point of entry for Carroll County’s older adults, adults with disabilities, their families, friends, and caregivers. Through this program they receive needed information on services available and assistance in obtaining benefit programs. Referrals are made to supporting services and agencies. An evaluation of each situation is done by an in-depth assessment of the individual’s needs. Follow-up to ensure delivery of service is part of the program. Education regarding the availability of community resources, services and items of importance to the older adult, and adults with disabilities population is an integral part of the program.

Outreach is provided in Carroll County through the distribution of educational materials; effective communication through activities such as health fairs, visits to senior centers, the media and speaking engagements; assistance in completing applications; referrals to needed services; and visits to the homebound. Significant staff time is also spent on the telephone assisting clients.

Monthly visits, excluding July and December, are made to each of the off-site senior centers in the county:

South Carroll Senior & Community Center – 1st Thursday of each month
Mt. Airy Senior & Community Center – 2nd Wednesday of each month
Taneytown Senior & Community Center – 3rd Thursday of each month
North Carroll Senior & Community Center – 4th Wednesday of each month
