Westminster, MD, Thursday, December 22, 2022 – Due to inclement weather, including a possible flash freeze and wind and wind chill advisories, Carroll County Government offices are closed tomorrow, Friday, December 23, 2022.

If weather permits, the Resource Recovery Park (Northern Landfill) plans to open on Friday 12/22/22 from 7 am – 12:00 noon. The park will reevaluate on Friday morning. To verify the status before traveling, please call 410-386-4550.

The Carroll Transit System and Trailblazer are closed for services.

Piney Run Park and Hap Baker Firearms Facility will be closed all day due to the weather.

“The weather guidance indicates opportunities for icy weather with a flash freeze and advisories in the forecast, presenting dangerous conditions,” said Commissioner Ed Rothstein, President of the Board of Commissioners. “We want everyone to be safe during this holiday season so please always put safety first and also check on your family and neighbors.”

For those seeking shelter: Human Services Programs (HSP) of Carroll County, Inc. operates a year-round night by night shelter serving those that are street homeless, located at 127 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD.  The shelter accepts nightly participants on a walk-in basis starting at 7:00 pm with stays through 8:00 am the following morning.  Contact 410-386-6679 for more information.  Hot food is available. While the national declaration of a public health emergency remains in effect, participants must wear a mask while at shelter. Please enter by 10:00 pm. Due to expected freezing temperatures, HSP will expand the hours of the Night by Night Shelter this weekend.  Doors will open at regular time of 7:00 PM on Friday, December 23rd and remain open until 8:00 AM on Monday, December 26th.
